Undertow(2021)
I used to think that my art was about describing the transcendent; the things you could never put your hand on. But these days, I find myself paying more attention to the things that you can put your hands on; the things that you see; the things that appeal to the senses.
With Undertow, I wish to capture the expressive qualities of something as simple as ink on water. My desire with this project is to create a piece that values the material reality of a commodity. I want the eyes to pay attention to the detail of each print - to be beheld by them, as one would behold them.
